KARPATHOS

Our favourite Greek getaway!
If you’re travelling to Karpathos, you basically only need to book your airplane ticket and send an e-mail to Meltemi windsurfing center.
They will handle everything else for you! You can book accommodation, gear and airport transfer with them.
Hold on to your hats, this is one of the windiest islands in Greece!
The best season is from June to September. The wind can get up to 40 knots on extremely windy days but on average will be around 26-30kts.
Thankfully meltemi will have you covered with sail sizes from 3,0 up to 7,2.
Karpathos is the place to be for anyone from beginner to advanced.
Chicken bay is a 2-minute drive from the airport, a beautiful shallow bay where you can learn the basics of windsurfing, beach start, water start as well as getting into the footstraps.
For more challenging conditions you just drive 3 minutes further to the main Meltemi station at Devil’s bay. It’s not as intimidating as it sounds!
Blasting across the bay is beautiful! You can practice planing jibes and go for your first jumps here.
For the freestylers among us, the chop is steep, the gusts are strong, this is where you can get EXTRA explosive and practice your air power moves.
Meltemi has a great bar with good food, smoothies and coffee as well as chilling areas to rest and fuel up for your next sessions!
We recommend bringing gloves and lots of sunblock!

BONAIRE

BONAIRE

Bonaire is probably the best place in the world to learn how to windsurf and improve your skills. It’s a dream place to go to for many windsurfers.
The wind is onshore, extremely consistent and it’s shallow virtually everywhere.
There are 4 schools, Jibe city, Frans Paradise, The place and the Bjorn Dunkerbeck pro center. It’s actually ridiculous how easy it is to windsurf.
Once you’ve been there you’ll understand why some of the best and most innovative windsurfers in the world come from this island.
They have laboratory conditions to perfect their craft.
The wind season starts end of December until August with the best months being February through May.
For more advanced riders you can sail in the deeper area where there is bigger chop or sail near the pier where it’s super flat to go for the more technical freestyle moves. Bonaire is a very laidback island and it’s all about windsurfing and relaxing.
It’s famous for Scuba diving and it has some really nice restaurants at the seaside.

Jericoacoara

JERICOACOARA

Brazil, Jericoacoara is our favourite spot to go to between September and December.

We love sailing in Jeri for the variety that the spot offers.

Sailing at the point is perfect for people trying to get into wave sailing.

The waves are soft and forgiving. It is also a great place to get into your first forward loops or perfecting them.

If you’re looking for the perfect freestyle conditions, you can take a 40-minute buggy ride along the dunes to a lagoon with super flat water, strong wind which allow you to try the same move over and over again. You will see improvement in no time!

We love doing clinics here as we switch between the main spot and the lagoon to challenge you in more wave like conditions but also give you that adventure feeling driving through the dunes on the way to the lagoon!

Stay at Pousada Mauricio and rent your gear at Jeri250.

TENERIFE

TENERIFE

El Médano in Tenerife has something to offer for everybody. This is the home spot to some of the best wave and slalom riders in the world, which shows that
it’s an all-around spot. Right in the bay it’s beginner and intermediate friendly. There is a lot of space to improve there, and The Playa Sur Hotel and windsurf school is located right at the spot. You have a great view over the bay so you will never miss the wind!
If you’re looking for more challenging conditions, you can sail 5 min up to “The wall” where there will be some more waves rolling in.
This is a great spot to get into some more onshore wave riding.
And finally, do you want to start jumping, go high on your forwards, practice backloops and ride a punchier wave?
Then you need to go to El Cabezo, which is located at the opposite end of the bay from Playa sur. The best wave sailors train and perfect their craft here, it’s very inspiring sailing with those riders around you. August and September are the best months for wind and waves but it’s a great winter escape from January onwards already. Book your stay at Hotel Playa Sur!

ARUBA

ARUBA

Aruba One happy island welcomes you with its strong breeze once you step out of the airport! The main spot Fishermen Huts has off-shore winds and the water is flat and shallow in the beginning. So it’s easy to learn windsurfing. When sailing further out, the gusts will be stronger, and you get bit more challenging conditions. It’s a great spot for slalom and freeriding. There are 2 windsurfing schools at the beach, but we would recommend taking your own gear. Besides the huts our favourite spot is Barcadera, which is near the airport with more side shore wind. The gusts are stronger, and the chop is steeper. The lagoon is sheltered by mangrove trees, so it’s a short run to the other side before you need to tack. Which means you do many moves in one session.
Off course we love windsurfing, but on the South side of the island, you’ll find one of the most beautiful kite and wingfoil bays called Boca Grandi.
Definitely worth a visit!
The wind season starts end of December and runs through to August.
With the best months being February through May
See you on the One Happy Island soon!

DAKHLA

DAKHLA

Dakhla is the best place in the world for freestyle if you ask Oda Johanne. But also if you just want to learn your first waterstarts or planing gybes this is the place to improve your skills! The wind is consistent almost the whole year round! The setup that they have is next level!
If you stay at Dakhla Attitude Hotel they pick you up at Dakhla airport.
Inside the hotel you have a great windsurfing station to rent or store your gear at Freak Windsurf Club Dakhla.
The hotel has the best food in the bay. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included at the hotel. You don’t need a rental car. You can windsurf in the bay right in front of the Windsurfing club, and there is a shuttle to the speed spot which is a 15 min walk downwind if you want to sail the  best flat spot in the world. It works best on low tide. Inside the hotel area there is also a really nice bar and a gym where there is space to practice yoga.
Once you go to Dakhla, you will want to come back every year!

Get in touch with us for more information about any of these spots!
